Public Lands Day

The land is our legacyโ€”protect it, explore it, and pass it on.

Celebrating Shared Spaces

Observed every year on the fourth Saturday of September, National Public Lands Day falls on September 27, 2025. It is the nationโ€™s largest single-day volunteer effort for public lands, established in 1994 to encourage stewardship, recreation, and appreciation of Americaโ€™s shared outdoor spaces.

From national parks and forests to local trails and wildlife refuges, public lands represent both natural beauty and cultural heritage. In 2025, this day is a reminder that public lands are more than scenic backdropsโ€”they are classrooms, playgrounds, and sanctuaries. They belong to everyone, but they also depend on everyone for protection.
