Global Dignity Day

Every human being deserves dignityโ€”no exceptions, no compromises.

A Day for Human Worth

Global Dignity Day is observed on the third Wednesday of October, which in 2025 falls on October 15. Founded in 2006 by Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, Professor Pekka Himanen of Finland, and Operation HOPE founder John Bryant, the day calls on people worldwide to recognize the inherent value and dignity of every human life.

This international observance is now celebrated in more than 80 countries. Schools, organizations, and communities host workshops, conversations, and projects where individuals reflect on what dignity means to them. Itโ€™s a movement rooted in the belief that dignity is the foundation for freedom, justice, and human rights.

In 2025, the theme emphasizes building dignity through compassion and equalityโ€”encouraging people to uplift one another and push back against injustice, exclusion, and inequality in all its forms.
